On November 8th,  the Catholic University of America School of Library and Information Science and the International Association for Intelligence Education (IAFIE) sponsored   “Library Science and Intelligence Analysis: Converging Educational Paths.”

The expert panel of library science and intelligence educators included:

Ran Hock, CUA Adjunct, author of Extreme Searcher’s Internet Handbook, 3rd Ed
Kathy Pherson,  Owner, Pherson Associates, Intelligence Education, Training and past chair of the DC Chapter of the IAFIE.
Edna Reid, Dept. of Justice
Dave Shumaker, Clinical Associate Professor, CUA
William C. Spracher,   COL (USA Army, Ret), Ed D, Director, National Military Intelligence Association and Chair of the DC Chapter of International Association for Intelligence Education (IAFIE).
And
Blane Dessy,  Executive Director of Federal Library and Information Center Committee (FLICC) and Federal Library and Information Network (FEDLINK) and CUA Adjunct

The dialog on this most exciting topic explored the degree to which the theory and practice of library and information science directly correlates to the field of intelligence analysis.
